Nvidia, a technology company known for designing and manufacturing graphics processing units (GPUs), announced new projects at its 2022 SIGGRAPH special address. One was the NVIDIA Omniverse Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE), a set of cloud-native AI models and services to help build and customize lifelike virtual assistants and digital humans.
They also announced an initiative to evolve Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD), an open-source and extensible language of 3D worlds, to become a foundation of the open metaverse and 3D internet. Adobe, Autodesk, Siemens and a collection of other leading companies will help in a multi-year project to expand USD’s abilities beyond visual effects to support industrial metaverse applications.
FundamentalVR raises $20M
FundamentalVR, a developer of virtual reality (VR) surgical skills training and data analytics, announced it raised an additional USD $20 million (total over $30 million) to increase surgical competence with its medical simulation platform, Fundamental Surgery. The platform combines virtual reality and haptics with data, artificial intelligence and multimodal learning. The haptics help to mimic the physical sensation of real-life surgical actions without the risk to patients.

Bruce Lee’s home
In 2019, Bruce Lee’s old home in Hong Kong- No. 41, Cumberland Road was demolished. Three years later, the Bruce Lee Club in partnership with PRIZM Group and three students from Shatin IVE are announcing “Revival of the Memory: Bruce ‘Lee’s Home in Metaverse” to recreate Bruce Lee’s former home “Crane’s Nest”.
