Beat Saber Celebrates 4 Years
Beat Saber (2018) is considered VR’s most well-known game. To celebrate its fourth anniversary on VR headsets the game is releasing free tracks that remix two songs (Jaroslav Beck’s ‘Escape’ and ‘100$ Bills’,) from the game’s original soundtrack.
Meta’s New Avatar Store
Meta plans to expand its collection of virtual fashion items for its Meta Avatars with the introduction of the Meta Avatars Store. Users can purchase outfits from popular fashion labels such as Balenciaga, Prada, and more. The announcement was made June 17th during an Instagram Live broadcast with Eva Chen, VP of Fashion Partnerships, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The store will be available on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.
Novarad has FDA 510(k) approval
VisAR, an augmented reality (AR) surgical navigation system from healthcare technology provider Novarad, received FDA 510(k) approval for precision guided intraoperative spine surgery. Novarad says their product VisAR turns a patient’s imaging data into a 3D hologram viewed through an optical visor and superimposed onto a patient with submillimeter accuracy. With this, surgeons can focus on the patient without turning away to a monitor. Most surgeries are performed without navigation due to cost and setup time. But VisAR would make surgical guidance much cheaper. “This is transformational technology that provides the precision of a robot, the portability of a stethoscope and the versatility of human powered intelligence,” said Dr. Wendell Gibby, Novarad CEO and co-creator of VisAR.
