Meta’s Hypocrisy
Meta recently announced it would start testing tools to help creators sell virtual things for real money in Horizon Worlds. But Meta plans to charge a 47.5% fee for their earnings. This drew widespread criticism especially from Apple. Apple spokesman Fred Sainz said in an email to MarketWatch, “Meta has repeatedly taken aim at Apple for charging developers a 30% commission for in-app purchases in the App Store — and have used small businesses and creators as a scapegoat at every turn. […] Now — Meta seeks to charge those same creators significantly more than any other platform.”
Rec Room Hits 3 Million Monthly Active VR Users
Rec Room (2016), a social platform available on devices like VR headsets, PC, console, and mobile phones, has tripled its monthly active users from 1 million last year to 3 million monthly active VR users. Rec Room says this number is not the full list of active users, as most don’t use VR. The majority of VR users are on Meta Quest 2 headsets

Niantic’s New Game
‘Pokémon Go’’s creator Niantic announced their latest game Peridot Peridot is similar to Tamagotchi gameplay where you raise AR creatures called peridots (or ‘dots’ for short) as pets that you can then breed to create new unique combinations over time. Niantic claims the dots can become very varied, based on how they are raised and the baby dot’s parent’s characteristics.
